Social problems are everywhere around us. Listen to a news channel, have a look at social media or open up a newspaper, and suddenly you are confronted with a rich variety of social issues, many of which have a social psychological dimension. Regardless of whether it concerns, for example, the problem of climate change, obesity, international conflicts, the flow of refugees, prejudice and aggression towards ethnic minorities, a lack of diversity in the police force, the lack of women in the boards of large companies, privacy concerns with regard to the use of big data or school drop-out, social psychological factors play a role in all of these issues.
