Work engagement has been linked to numerous positive outcomes, such as enhanced innovative work behavior, commitment, and reduced turnover intentions. Especially in modern work settings that are affected by globalization and frequent organizational changes, it is important that employees deploy their whole capacity and willingness, and that they identify with and work according to the organization’s goals. As such, work engagement can provide organizations with an important competitive advantage. Whereas previous research on work engagement has focused on the individual level, few studies have investigated work engagement at the level of organizational units.
