Description
The harmful residual monomer existing in hygienic superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) should be simply quantified through an accurate and reproducible method. This paper reveals an optimized method for determination of the residual monomer in hygienic SAP samples based on the high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique. The sample preparation is not complicated. The extracting solution and the mobile phase are the same (0.01% orthophosphoric acid solution) and there is no need to use organic solvents. Working time, supplies, and solvents used also result in low cost per analysis. This analyst-friendly method may be used either in academic or in industrial laboratories.
