Description
The treatment of the ophthalmologic manifestations of Behcet's Disease must have 2 goals: the suppression of the inflammatory reaction and the prevention from new attacks. Corticosteroids are the drug of choice for the inflammatory reaction. More quickly the inflammation is resolved, less chances is left for the occurrence of sequelae and complications. Unfortunately corticosteroids are not able to suppress the inflammation in all cases. Cytotoxic drugs, especially cyclophosphamide and chlorambucil, are the best remittive agents in ophthalmologic manifestations of Behcet's Disease (1-4). They have the same efficacy as Cyclosporine A (5), but with less side effects.
