Abstract The 5th International Conference on Physics and Astrophysics of Quark Gluon
Plasma (ICPAQGP 2005) was held on 8–12 February 2005 at the Variable Energy Cyclotron
Centre and Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics campus, Kolkata, India. The conference was
enriched by the august presence of about 300 participants representing 18 countries across
