In a recent article in this journal, Boureau and Kleppal have interpreted measurements of the
partial molar thermodynamic properties of dilute solutions of hydrogen in palladium between
300 and 700 K in terms of two possible explanations:(1) the occupancy of both octahedral
and tetrahedral sites or (2) a modification of the vibration spectrum of palladium. While the
thermodynamic measurements and derivations in this paper appear to be sound, we would
like to comment on the interpretation by the authors of previous neutron scattering studies2 …
