On the benefits of distributed generation of wind energy in Europe

The huge success of wind energy in Europe in the last years has led to locally high
percentages of wind energy. However, the intermittence of the resource is seen as a large
problem at utilities. This work aims at answering two questions: how can the integration into
the electricity grid be improved by short-term forecasting, and what are the benefits of
