Transportation Research Record, 1991•trid.trb.orgThe chloride-induced corrosion of steel reinforcing bars (rebars) in concrete structures can
be vitiated by the presence of chemical compounds that serve as corrosion inhibitors. A
simple, quick procedure has been developed to test for the relative effectiveness of
inhibitors. The test is based on the observable corrosion of multiple test specimens under
specified conditions. Details of the test procedure are reported along with the results for a
range of inhibitors.
